Shikha Mahajan, who is a holistic nutritionist and founder of Diet Podium as well, identifies them as indigestion, hormonal imbalance and of course sedentary lifestyle.

Bloating and chronic constipation are results of indigestion and they can be tackled by including fiber and ginger in the daily diet. It is also important to drink lots of water. Another way to help flatten the belly could be drinking jeera and ajwain water. Soak them at night and drink the water the other morning.

For ones who follow a sedentary lifestyle, it is suggested to keep carbs in check. Mahajan suggests to start the day with good fats like almonds and walnuts. One can also opt for green tea and have half a spoon of ghee before that.

Speaking of hormonal imbalance, eating berries and avocados can be way too helpful. “Cortisol is a stress hormone that disrupts the normal functions of other hormones. It leads to an imbalance in leptin and ghrelin thus causing spikes in hunger, increase in your total calories intake. It also leads to heart problems and insulin imbalance which results in depositing of belly fat in our bodies. Foods like berries, avocados, nuts, yogurt, pears and papaya help in maintaining the cortisol levels,” Mahajan maintains.

Eggs

Eggs help in losing appetite as they keep you full for a long time. One can replace a heavy carb-based diet with this. This also keeps the metabolism high.

Nuts

All sorts of nuts can be extremely effective in reducing belly fat. Due to their omega-3 content, they help in tightening the belly. They also possess anti-inflammation properties.

Yogurt

Just like eggs, yogurt also helps in appetite reduction. Which is why, it is suggested to be consumed on a regular basis. A report of CBS News states that yogurt helps in the growth of gut bacteria in the gut, thereby reducing bloating.

Citrus fruits help in increasing metabolism, and vitamin C maintains your skin health better.
