Chocolate filled lava cake is also known as choco lava cake or molten chocolate cake. Making the cake at home is very easy and simple with whole wheat flour and cocoa powder.
To make this molten cake all you need is cocoa powder, baking soda and chocolate. The rest of the ingredients you can get in the kitchen very easily. You can have a choice of sweet or semi sweet chocolate too.
Here’s how you can make it at home:
Dry Ingredients
1/2 cup – All purpose flour or maida
1/2 cup + 2tbsp – Caster sugar or bhura (not powdered sugar)
1/4 cup – Milk powder
A pinch of salt
1/4 tsp – Baking powder
5tbsp – Cocoa powder
Wet Chocolate Mixture
130g – Dark chocolate
1/4 cup – Butter (55 g)
1/2 cup + 1 to 2tbsp – Hot water (1 tbsp is to adjust consistency)
Method
*Mix the dry ingredients and sieve them with the help of a sieving plate. Meanwhile, melt chocolate and butter in the microwave.
*Grease the baking tray with butter and dust some cocoa powder on to it.
*Mix warm water, dry ingredients and chocolate butter together to make a smooth batter. The batter should be quite consistent and not very liquid. Pour little above 1/2 of the height of the tray.
*Bake it in a pre-heated oven at 220 degree temperature for about 10-12 minutes.
*After cooking cool it for about five minutes and then unmould on a plate.
*Be careful, if you over bake it you won't get lava oozing.
